About this show
Held each January in Manhattan, this annual convention is run by its own standing organization, with a president, a bourse chairman and a permanent management team rather than a local club. The bourse regularly seats more than 100 dealers specializing in world and ancient numismatics, spread across two ballrooms and an adjoining gallery area. Auction sessions are the defining element, running across seven days and drawing multiple firms that sell foreign and ancient material exclusively. Club and society meetings, lectures and educational seminars run alongside the bourse, with separate rooms set aside for auction lot viewing.
- The first convention was held in December 1971, founded by dealer Richard Margolis.
- Before 2001 the convention met at the World Trade Center, after which it moved to January and to a series of midtown hotels.
- NGC serves as an Official Grading Service and accepts submissions at its booth; PCGS attends on a submissions-only basis.
- The convention has hosted charity auctions benefiting non-profit institutions, including the American Numismatic Society, which gave it the 2025 Trustees' Award.

Before you go
Bring a sheet built from your want list: what each coin is worth right now, what to pay and when to walk. Print it, or keep it on your phone. It opens with no signal, which in most show halls is the signal you get.
