Coin auction lots near you

Regional auctioneers list coin lots constantly, and the estimates are set by generalists who handle furniture in the same sale. Coinsel reads those catalogs, works out what each lot is actually worth from sold comps, and shows you the difference.

Showing every tracked lot. Set your location to narrow this to your driving radius.

Lots show up here 24 hours after they're listed. Plus and Pro see them as they come in.

Comp values are estimates built from past sales, not appraisals or quotes. Photos and descriptions come from the auction house and are not verified by Coinsel. Inspect the lot and read the auctioneer's terms before bidding.

How the numbers are worked out

Every lot title is parsed for the date, mintmark, denomination and stated grade. Where the lot is in a PCGS or NGC holder at a straight numeric grade, it is matched to realized auction prices and grade-matched eBay sold listings for the same coin.

Where it is raw, no comp is shown, because a comp for a certified coin is not a comp for an ungraded one. What a raw coin can still be priced on is its metal: if the title identifies the coin well enough to know its weight and fineness, you get the melt value at today's spot. That is a floor rather than a market price, it says nothing about what a collector would pay, and it is labelled as melt wherever it appears.

Lots of several coins are valued the same way when the title says what is in them. “$10 face 90% silver” or “(20) Morgan dollars” is a known amount of metal. Where the title leaves the amount open, the lot is shown without a number.

No spread is shown while a lot is still at its opening bid. Auctioneers open at a nominal figure to attract bidding, so measuring against it would report the opening convention rather than an opportunity. Open any lot to see exactly what its number rests on.
