About this shop
Retail sales counter operated by the United States Mint inside its Washington headquarters building, selling United States Mint coins and medals directly to the public. The counter is the only part of the headquarters open to visitors, as the building houses administrative functions such as coin program management, research and development, marketing and customer service rather than coin production. Stock is limited to Mint products, and the counter does not buy coins, appraise collections or handle third-party-graded material.
- The counter closed in mid-March 2020 along with Mint public tours and the Philadelphia and Denver gift shops, and reopened on May 16, 2022.
- Inventory at the 2022 reopening included limited quantities of 2021 American Eagle gold and silver products.
- The Mint operates six locations, with public tours offered only at the Philadelphia and Denver facilities.

Know your numbers first
Walk in with a value in mind. Look up the cert number on anything slabbed, and check recent sold comps so you can tell a fair offer from a fast one.
