About this shop
Deals in vintage United States gold and silver coins, modern U.S. and world coins, and bullion, and works as a marketmaker in pre-1934 U.S. gold and an importer and distributor of world gold coins. The firm maintains cash markets in U.S. and world gold for dealers, banks and brokers in the United States, Asia and Europe, and travels in search of hoards, collections, dealer inventories and bank holdings. It has appraised, auctioned, bought and sold coins under the RARCOA name for decades, including the sale of the N.M. Kaufman Collection in 1978. Wayde Milas has owned the company since 2009.
- The business traces to a Chicago coin and stamp shop opened by Ben Dreiske in 1929, with Rare Coin Company of America formed under the RARCOA name in 1962.
- The company moved to Willowbrook in 1985.
- In 2024 the Royal Mint named RARCOA its exclusive United States distributor for commemorative coins, a deal that excludes bullion.
- Four people associated with the firm, David Shapiro, Edward Milas, Jeffrey Bernberg and Wayde Milas, have served as presidents of the Professional Numismatists Guild.

What they've offered
User reportedNot enough reports yet. It takes 5 in a category before a number goes up here, so one thin sample never stands in for the shop. If you've sold here or had an offer, it takes about a minute to report.
These are offers reported by Coinsel users. They are not quotes, and they are not a prediction of what you will be offered. Offers depend on the coin, the day, and the market.

Know your numbers first
Walk in with a value in mind. Look up the cert number on anything slabbed, and check recent sold comps so you can tell a fair offer from a fast one.
