About this shop

A nonprofit collectors' organization rather than a retail store, the Fort Lauderdale Coin Club meets at Volunteer Park Community Center in Plantation and runs a monthly coin show there on the third Sunday, where dealers handle coins, paper money, gold, silver, stamps and numismatic supplies. Admission and parking are free, and appraisals are offered at the show. Meetings fall on the second and fourth Thursday evenings and include a short educational program followed by an auction of 60 or more lots. Member dealers at the gatherings handle buying, selling and consignment of rare coins.

  • The club was organized in 1955 by collectors and dealers and incorporated in Florida as a nonprofit in 1956.
  • It joined the American Numismatic Association in 1987 as the association's 52nd life member club.
  • It served as host club for the ANA National Money Show held in Fort Lauderdale in March 2000.
  • A member auction of 50 to 100 lots began in the 1960s and the practice has continued since.

Know your numbers first

Walk in with a value in mind. Look up the cert number on anything slabbed, and check recent sold comps so you can tell a fair offer from a fast one.
